I wonder how much of this is local-market kayfabe. NYC has a huge Ukrainian community that generally tends conservative and lately pretty Trumpy, but obviously this issue is a huge potential wedge: pretending that Trump is swayable or being mislead by his advisors may keep them on the farm.

Most MAGAs actually have sympathy for Ukraine and Zelensky. That's why Republicans went above and beyond in keeping Trump off mic on the issue and tried their best to frame the message as "Europe must do more". The fact they are not covering it up anymore is telling.
