Milton Keynes Dons originally played in Wimbledon. They changed their name and moved to Milton Keynes in 2001, leaving the fans in Wimbledon without a team. So Wimbledon FC was created by the fans, and their rival is the Dons for leaving.

I think as a part owner of AFC Wimbledon he has to phrase it like that or phrase it as “MK Dons” or “Milton Keynes Dons” after an EFL mandate. Even though referring to the franchise currently plying it’s trade in Milton Keynes as “the Dons” is disrespectful of the original FC Wimbledon heritage
