I did vote and no, of course not. but we live in a representative democracy. the results of our elections are the people who represent us to the world. he was very open about pulling the US out of the global community. like it or not, this is who America is until we decide to elect someone else.

I wish we could also see the impact things like P4A, MSF, PIH, etc. are doing to offset that. I know it's hard times & there are horrors being caused by the choices of the US govt but many individuals/orgs are working so hard to make up for it & I think that is beautiful & we should focus on it also

I think part of the issue is that private philanthropy just can't replace governmental institutions just as a matter of scale and reach. It's like how a plaster bandage can't replace a tourniquet even though both have aligned goals.

no that's one hundred percent true, but it's so hard to not just fall into despair due to awareness of all of the suffering. for many (though obvs not John in this instance) that can turn into inaction. I feel like seeing ppl/orgs trying to make up for it could help with that is all
