my brother used to make me go to his Church. they weren't really Christian. they used it as a status thing, but they didn't do anything to help the community, or the poor. they just went to church to pretend to be Christian.

I think we need to separate "Christianity" from Jesus. There were no "christians" in the New Testament congregations, and the "scriptures" were Old Testament only (John 7:16, Matt 4:4).

I was part of the Christian Right movement in the late 1980’s. I saw first hand what they really cared about. Abortion was just to reel in the Catholics. The Gays were their public bogeyman but behind closed doors it was about extreme racism.

Calling yourself a Christian tends to get some people to lower their guards, and if they don't say the same back, that also gives them license to steal from them and treat them cruelly, or at least that's been my experience for 50 odd years in this country. I check my wallet as I walk away.

As a recovering Catholic, I can tell you aside from knowing tremendous guilt I learned the Golden Rule. It was drilled into us to try walking in another's shoes before thinking you understand. We were raised to be good to others, especially those less fortunate. That was religion and good parenting

Christianity seems to have little to do with love, compassion or the heart of the person professing the faith. In America it’s mostly a GROUP to be a part of.
