Same as usual. Such questions often arise after significant earthquakes hit densely populated areas. This increased attention happens because more people feel and talk about the tremors.

Statistics may help: worldwide ~1500 earthquakes of mag. btw 5 and 6 each year, ~140 btw 6 and 7 (event in Japan today was 6.8 to 6.9).

This means, on average and worldwide, several M5+ each day, 1 M6+ every 2 days.

Events near SF past 7 days had mag. btw 2.5 and 3.5, thus far more frequent.

I’ve been following this account for a while and there’s like multiple earthquakes every day, just largely out in the ocean or in unpopulated areas:

And what I’d say is this is just a couple recent earthquakes hitting populated areas that you’ve noticed. But I’m no expert

There are weeks of lower and weeks of Higher Activity. The last few Days (China, Japan, Mexico, El Salvador) belongs to the higher, though not unusually high.

The San Francisco Quakes aren´t noteworthy. Quakes of that Magnitude happen a thousand times a week? Possibly more often.

This level of activity is normal. Once an event occurs that captures the public interest, people (and the media) become more aware of other events. But they're going on all of the time. You can look at daily/weekly/annual quakes at https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/
