Post a #shelfie! Here is a collection of some indie and trad books I physically own. I need a new shelf that can actually hold all this weight π See any books you recognize?

I havenβt read it yet actually! Iβm really excited to as I loved Priory, but itβs such a big book that I struggle to hold it up when I read in bed πππ I think Iβll have to get the ebook version to read. I love Shannonβs writing though so Iβm sure itβll be amazing.
Thatβs why I havenβt read the second one! π€£π€£ it hurt my hands to hold up. Iβve thought about getting it on my kindle but the books are just so gorgeous I want the physical copy
Hahah same! Itβs like a literal brick.
Yeah I agree. Had to have the physical copy as itβs beautiful, but ebook doesnβt require weight lifting to read πππ
After looking it up- I was just wrong about Jack of Thorns (I was thinking of Prince of Thorns) and Fourth Wing I've definitely heard from via the streamer Courtilly when she's been in some ChilledChaos videos.
Ooh, I see several I've read!π
(Also, omg, the The all in one The Immortals quartet in the lower left is so hilariously amazing, I had to comment..)
You can strengthen this bookshelf with an oak 1x2 (buy 2@6'), a steak knife (or saw), and self-tapping 1 1/4" construction screws and a screwdriver (drill recommended).
Cut boards to match shelf length, and screw them in vertically along the back side.
The idea if to make the upper shelves reinforced by a cross beam like the bottom one is. It can be hidden in the back of the shelf on the top of bottom.
Pre-drill holes so the wood doesn't split when screws are driven in.
Should take less than 2 hours if you have absolutely zero skills or tools.
These particle board shelves aren't supposed to hold this much weight, but they're pretty resilient. By adding a reinforcement, they'll be totally rock solid and you won't need a new bookcase unless you want it.
This IKEA-type "apartment furniture" can do incredible things with small easy mods.
What did you think of Priory of the Orange Tree? I just finished The Way of Kings, Citizens, and Shadow of the Gods, and I'm not sure I have another doorstop in me until the new year.
I've seen a few on there I'll be looking into. π
I have half a dozen bookshelves (I'm an old bird who loves books, lol), but snapped a photo of one of them. #Shelfi
IMPRESSIVE! Would love for you to check out Fable's new Shelfie feature that just came out today to build your digital version! https://fable.co/shelfie
My question is (which I often ask myself), why are you keeping those books? Are they collectible? Worth a second read? Some nostalgia value? JUST CAN'T STAND TO LET GO??? That's where we collectors get stuck.
I fear your shelves will fall. All those precious books falling to the ground in pain. Save them from such a fate before it is too late with a natural hard wood bookcase like this...my bookcase I found down the street for free.
#shelfie I stack books between shelves to make pillars and avoid the sag. Makes it a bugger if you want to get one out to reread. Not shown is my Patrick OβBrian set which is currently ending its third read. Theyβre one big unfinished novel really. Great writer.
I spotted one book from The Witcher series on your shelf. And I know how you feel, I'm beginning to worry if my own book self will hold the weight, especially the top shelf π
I started converting out China cabinet into a library during the summer. We just donβt throw big fancy dinners that need elegant place settings. Happy to just have people come with simple plates and eat som good food. Iβve been trying to get ideas on how to do itβ¦work in progress.
Did you enjoy βThe Priory of the Orange Treeβ? Everyone I see it in the book store, I cannot help but feel tempted to purchase it; however, I do not want to read it if itβs badly written.
I love it! Iβm on chapter 23/39. I already have Iron Flame on standby to start once Iβm done and Onxy Storm is in my Amazon Cart for when itβs released in January!
