That’s a horse bridle - for the mouth of a pony to help drive chariots. There was a slave chain found in 1942 which is extraordinary. Who knows there may be more to find like that! The slave chain was strong enough to pull motor vehicles out from a bog!

If I'd dug up that snaffle bit I'd have assumed it was modern. It's a bit design that's still in use today, only they're now stainless steel.

I found one of these things (bottom left). No idea where I found it - it was years ago! Thought it was a ‘bit’. It’s now hanging on a wall in my garden.
