AARG does great work. Please give them a follow!

Great to see the Aerial Archaeology Research Group now on BlueSky 🎉 Do any clever people know how to add AARG to the Archaeology & Remote Sensing starter packs? 🙏

Had a blast at the London Winter Run today - 25,000 people running 10k for @cancerresearchuk.org - a brilliant event on closed roads round central London. Great organisation & fantastic support 👏👏 #running

It's a beautiful morning over London. Have a great Sunday everyone

I hadn't noticed the bomb damage in the walls of the #V&A, London, until it was pointed out to me today It's a sobering reminder of the #blitz in the heart of the modern capital

The incredible interior of the Natural History Museum, London, today 😮🤩 A Victorian architectural & scientific wonderland

#RomanSiteSaturday Spending some quality time with the Emperor Trajan in the #V&A 🥰 Absolutely incredible

Seeing lots of buzz about the Yorkshire Neolithic chalk 'drums'. Not being funny, but 'eyebrows and face' isn't really what I saw. What could be more comforting for a child heading alone into the unknown than mother's breast? Not a hill(s?) I'm prepared to die on btw. Just another perspective

Today I am mostly meant to be writing about the depiction of *barbarians* in classical art All I can think of, however, is Arminius of the Cherusci playing a shouty bird man in Flash Gordon *Varus's alive?*

My first job was in the Elms Farm visitor centre and we had a big blown up copy of Toby the Trowel as part of our interpretation. It was very good! If I remember correctly it made our lives more pleasant by anticipating the questions we got asked overandoverandover again. #archaeology #heritage

Evening in the city 👌 #Londinium #London

Aerial photography for archaeology would be a far more romantic pursuit nowadays if we still flew in biplanes, trailing silk scarves

Scythed wheels? ✔️ White cocktail dress? ✔️ Snowy white horses? ✔️ Men in furs? ✔️ Yep, you just know when it’s a mid century Boudica depiction. Waddington’s jigsaw, c.1954. #BoudicaFriday #Echolands

I love walking through this door every day and thinking of all the brilliant people who have walked through this same door over the years! My office is at the very end, you can just about see it hehe 🌝 #AdoorableThursday @amgueddfacymru.bsky.social

The remains of one of the towers at Hardknott Roman Fort in Cumbria. Located on the western side of the Hardknott Pass at 800 feet, the fort was built between AD120 and AD138. 📸 My own. #RomanFortThursday #RomanBritain #Archaeology

So I reckon if I make 7k followers it'll be time to post some vintage 1990s 'Toby the Trowel' archaeology cartoons, fresh from the archives...🧐😮🤩 The ever-necessary 'How Sites Get Buried!' might be the best one to release first on BlueSky...🤔

#Chester branch of the Edinburgh Woollen Mill now open on Northgate street, with hypocaust back on display! Possibly but not certainly part of a baths suite in the commander's residence (praetorium).

Yesterday a knowledgeable neighbour led me on the hike, half overgrown with spiky scrub, to the “shaman’s cave” in the desert rocks. There are remnants of Cahuilla wall paintings & a chamber open to the sky that I was able to wriggle into. (1 of 3)
