Trans friends: If you're living somewhere that's not safe or likely to become so, Colorado is about as safe as anywhere gets and Denver even more so. I don't have a strong sense of Greeley, but there are suburbs of Denver that are much more affordable. There are also lots of spots off 36 along the Denver/Boulder corridor.

Greeley is going to be cheaper than most of the I-25 corridor for rent or purchasing a home. Greeley is pink-ish purple in a very red county(Weld). It's a mixed bag, but if price and blue state policies are the goal than it would be cheaper than Denver. Not as many jobs obviously.

We in CA welcome all the downtrodden! At least, so long as you have $100,000 in cash as down payment for your million dollar home. If you are trans person thinking of moving to trans friendly CA and you aren’t wealthy, you may be fucked. We aren’t that friendly.

Affordable as in cost of living only, or as in the difference between incomes and cost of living? Because if the latter then a lot of blue states, including Colorado, are attractive.

Depends on where you are in the income distribution, but, as someone who has been looking at the logistics of a move for awhile, that is not true for a lot of people.

You can climb a lot higher, but the bottom wages are only marginally better.
