So can someone explain to me like I’m an idiot exactly what about our system didn’t allow the prosecution of Trump for crimes from Mueller Report as soon as Trump was no longer President?
I hate to be kind of harsh, but you and others have been sitting here making posts insisting we should "fight" and "not be nihilistic", yet every single plan of action no matter how written in black and white text of legal processes, gets shut down.
Volunteering? For what? Organizing? For what? Protesting? What's our end goal for that? Voting? We just saw that doesn't work; either voters are stupid or Republicans engage in coups and suppression.
Punching Nazis might be cathartic, it doesn't lead to end goals.
Garland had a chance to save our democracy, and he failed miserably. Mueller was thwarted by a Trump appointed AG. Jack Smith was thwarted by an idiot AG.
I respectfully disagree. He had a chance to prosecute Trump. The oligarchs on the Supreme Court stopped him. Never expect one man to save us. The biggest check on the electorate is the voters. Always has been.
I know you disagree. He wouldn't have been stopped by the supreme court if he acted expeditiously and resolutely. He should have started out by prosecuting Trump for insurrection, early in 2021. Simple, direct, minimal prosecution, like the second impeachment. Instead he wasted 2 years.
Yes he would have. SCOTUS was never ever ever gonna let Trump go to trial. And he couldn’t have indicted in 2021. No one could because 8 key witnesses refused to testify and garland had to sue. And because the courts are slowwwwww it took nearly a YEAR.
Nonsense. There were no eight key witnesses. Congress had the witnesses it needed for impeachment. The 1/6 committee had plenty of willing witnesses. And we all saw Trump’s crimes committed in broad daylight. Insurrection was an open and shut case, and Garland didn’t even try to indict for it.
It’s not nonsense. You can look up the details of the 8 key witnesses.
The testimony needed for a congressional hearing is not the same that’s needed for a criminal case. The testimony was critical to the case Jack Smith brought. Smith decided not bring a losing insurrection charge. Not Garland
Let me put it this way. Biden’s appointment of Garland as AG was the greatest political blunder, so far, of the 21st century. On the scale of Neville Chamberlain’s blunder in Munich in 1938.
We'll flip Congress despite bomb threats, illegal voter roll purges, mail-in ballots that mysteriously get rejected, swing states that all simultaneously flipped for the first time in decades, millions who bizarrely split-ticket voted for all Democrats yet also Trump, etc.
So what were regular Americans supposed to do against Donald Trump? We couldn't even get our social media companies and television broadcasts to stop spreading the lies! Garland did nothing on that front either. The federal govnm't did nothing to stop Trump and his minions - And they had the power.
No he did not take forever. Mueller She wrote has already debunked this crap several times. Our justice system allowed trump to run out the clock, not Garland.
Trump was never EVER going to have all of his appeals done before this election. Never. The idea of Trump being in jail for the election was a fantasy.
We were always going to have to beat him at the ballot box, and if we can't do that, we don't deserve to win.
You are assuming Garland wasn’t doing any of the work himself. He did a ton of work before handing off to Jack. It also took him 10 months to get confirmed. Is that his fault too? The Dems accomplish nothing sitting around crying about Garland. We have more important shit to worry about.
I keep seeing this but I never see any actual method. Pressure them how? You write them letters and call them and they ignore you. What else are you supposed to do? I heard the same stuff about "pressuring Biden to do something about Trump," and he did jack fucking shit.
And I’m going to keep telling meme posting attention seekers with big platforms that their approach clearly isn’t working and they need to start getting their shit together or stfu.
And in absence of a strong leader right now, you bet your ass I’m going to flood Lisa Murkowski’s inbox with substantive reasons for not confirming cabinet members.
I dare you to even criticize Biden in any way to one of these bigger platforms. You’ll get cussed out and blocked. Must always fawn over him or you must be maga! Remember he can do no wrong.
It’s the exact reason we tend to stay paralyzed. No one is allowed to say anything remotely bad about a dem. It’s gotta stop. Why are people idolizing our government? They are not our friends. They are the elite, in control of us. Until people learn that, we’ll be forever losers.
French Revolution was so bad people welcomed a de facto dictatorship of Napoleon's Empire as a respite.
Sadly given the US realities and voting patterns I suspect any revolution will have strong vibes of Iranian revolution. Radicalised young men bringing in theocracy.
If the Right leads the revolution, then yes, possibly try to set up a theocracy, but if the Liberals lead, it would possibly be more democratic than it ever has been before, and maybe, more socially responsible...
And there is still a week while Biden is president and he could give an order to Seal Team 6 to eliminate some threats to our country, after all, SCOTUS agrees that the president has immunity, and his oath of office says to protect the Constitution from foreign and domestic threats.
Garland was decent, not a rockstar. Allowing bond, on the number of cases, while allowing Trump to put the public is danger, I feel the justice system failed, he should have revoked his bail, and campaign from a cell.
So true, it was up to the American public and we failed miserably on November 5. A lot of blame to go around, but how did 90M voters stay home when the stakes were so high?
They didn't. Voting systems were illegally accessed. Voter rolls were purged weeks before the election. Ballots were rejected by Republican poll people. Evidence was presented of all of this. Harris and Biden wanted Trump in so they ignored it all and made the transition easier for him.

1. Laws that cannot be enforced effectively don't exist. So why did we even pass them if they were never intended to be enforced?
2. What is the action plan when people make illegal and/or catastrophically destructive choices, if enforcing laws or sanity is impossible?
So... what precisely are we doing, then?
Punching Nazis might be cathartic, it doesn't lead to end goals.
We need detailed plans of action.
Voting 100% does work. That's why Trump will be in office. We failed by not connecting with voters.
Voters said they worried about crime and prices, and we concentrated on Jan 6.
Crime was down.
They refused to believe that when we told them.
Inflation was down.
They refused to believe that when we told them.
You cannot connect with people who refuse to listen or believe you.
“Crime is down”. Ok, but it was STILL their top concern. So tell them how you will bring it down more. Let them know you’re listening.
Stop telling and start listening.
Telling them they were wrong failed miserably.
He’s a Republican. He sandbagged the investigation on purpose.
South Korea had an arrest warrant for their leader in weeks.
The testimony needed for a congressional hearing is not the same that’s needed for a criminal case. The testimony was critical to the case Jack Smith brought. Smith decided not bring a losing insurrection charge. Not Garland
Very easy to overcome.
Where will you hear anything other than denaturated propaganda as an average voter?
We were always going to have to beat him at the ballot box, and if we can't do that, we don't deserve to win.
I fear that a French-style Revolution may come before I leave this Earth, and I just passed my 76th birthdate anniversary.
SOS Trump probably doesn't know enough about history to be afraid of that, but some of his cronies must have enough intelligence!
Sadly given the US realities and voting patterns I suspect any revolution will have strong vibes of Iranian revolution. Radicalised young men bringing in theocracy.
We can only hope for a good result for now!
Here's to hoping. After all, two of his supporters already tried. When he sends troops to random parts of the world, some general will try to cap him.
