Losing that optimism is how they win though. Things are looking rough for sure, but giving up and accepting it means they won't even need to try.

All anyone can do is keep pushing back, keep showing them for who they are and hope that enough people pay attention.

This tactic reminds of the late 90s working for a small agency who did overflow work for Saatchis. T&Cs: invoices paid 120 days, 50% discount on all work. I feel it was how they made profits as smaller companies would fail before getting paid. Saatchis front load lots of work to get it ‘free’
