It is also scary how some of the things she wrote about are actually so premonitory. I read it one or two years ago and it feels like as time passes, it’s got closer to predicting the future.
I recently listened to the Audiobook (unabridged) not because I’m lazy or don’t read actual books…
I feel ashamed of myself though!
I’m going to read the physical book …I will not fall
asleep and have to re-read the previous chapter on a loop for 1hr
The plot seems more likely now.
“…you shall have dominion over the beasts of the field, birds of the air, etc., etc.”
Makes reading this for the first time now all the more timely. Eerie.
Chillingly familiar to today.
I'm waiting for my library to find me a copy of the sequel, "Parable of the Talents".
This book and its sequel so much! Everything Octavia Butler touched turned to gold
One that stays
This seems particularly timely:

May the wisdom & knowledge contained therein be a light to the path you are walking.
Happy reading!
My bet is it's been banned by now.
And, I am living elsewhere.
I taught it to 11th graders.
The difficulty is getting their ultra-conservative parents (and pastors--the pastor of the local Cowboy Church, an entity I find insulting, was on the school board) to understand that their little angels already know and use these words frequently.
