I think this is right 👇

I really think Treasury Secretary Bessent worked Trump over this weekend, which is why we didn't see the Saturday implementation that Trump desperately wanted to do on Friday.

The problem is, I don't know how much personal capital he used up in the process. He's gonna need more.

I think he saw the Fox news crawl yesterday of the items that would get more expensive next to a picture of him, and finally understood what a tariff would do and how it would blow back on him

I'm sure of this too. Do you know where that video is of the news crawl? Trump has Fox on ALL THE TIME, I'm sure he saw it. Heck maybe they played it more than once.

on Friday when he was acting as if they were inevitable and wanted to enact they on Saturday, they may have been able to buy some time in order to produce that segment that they know he’d be watching

The only thing that makes sense to me is that he truly did not understand that tariffs would raise prices for Americans until his face was literally next to the scroll of products that would become pricier for us, and he would get blamed.

This seems plausible. That or else he saw the scroll, called it nonsense, and various people told him no, this is what would happen, and he blinked. (I still don't think he understands how they work, but this spooked him.)
