“We have a mandate from the American people to run the government like a successful business and we are starting by giving out massive discounts and firing accounts receivable”
If Medicaid is cut for nursing homes, what happens to all those Irrevocable Trusts people set up +5 years ago in order to “retain my assets that otherwise would have gone straight to the nursing home”? All the law firms out there who’ve been counseling how to “spend down” to qualify for Medicaid?
No, no, no, Kai! What the last 50 years have shown is that clearly we haven't cut taxes ENOUGH to trigger the exponential economic growth that will negate the loss in tax revenue from marginal rates. /s (Also something something tariffs, something something flat tax)
we've had around 50 years of evidence that you could pay for social services with a limited tax burden but that's not enough. we need to eliminate the tax burden entirely while eliminating the social services, strictly for cruelty. weird experiment they're conducting, the debt better not matter now!
If I pull the cord and run, one of my proposals would be to implement a deficit reduction requirement in every budget bill that the deficit projection had to be less than the deficit of the prior budget. Cut expenses, raise taxes, do both...doesn't matter. Just reduce the deficit every budget.
Listen, we're going to supercharge the economy, get 500% growth Y/Y, and that will only put us a few hundred billion below the no change in policy baseline. Why don't you believe us, we got Arthur Laffer right here!
We assume that money is power, and power is money. But the old America didn't (officially) allow you to buy officials, terrify poor people, and own "truth." They don't want more yachts, they want the power to be cruel, to do whatever they want, to lord over others, and to "never be wrong."
They [the assembly] should look forward to a time, and that not a distant one, when a corruption in this, as in the country from which we derive our origin, will have seized the heads of government,-
...It isn't about "cutting spending to save money." Otherwise, the revenue side would matter. Healthy and strong citizens with solid communities are harder to control. Scientists who speak facts are harder to control. They are destroying things that make the people stronger.
Us: RAISE TAXES ON RICH PEOPLE SO THEY PAY THE SAME EFFECTIVE RATES AS POOR PEOPLE WHO PAY ALL SORTS OF CONSUMER AND INCOME TAXES THAT RICH PEOPLE EITHER AVOID OR PAY PROPORTIONATELY LESS
I always say, it used to be that even if you disagreed with the GOP about things, you could at least trust them to be fiscally responsible. That ended under Reagan ... although he at least reversed course somewhat.
What is wrong with corporate America? Does no one have the cajones to speak out about a need for balance, the increased revenues are better, short & long term, than closing "stores", firing staff, and reducing "product lines"?
They want America run like a business? I don't think so ...

The way they're talking it seems they left all the details out...
(not complimentary)
As policy.
Math is hard
GOP: Run government like a business.

GOP: Not like that.

Could you do a segment on how it doesn’t really exist?
