Apparently apocryphal, but it’s probably a sentiment he’d have shared…

It was badly transcribed - apparently he said "Just because someone is born in Dolphin's Barn it doesn't make him a seahorse"

But they could rollerskate

Wellington saying it of himself is apocryphal. Daniel O'Connell said it of him.

He didn’t. It was Daniel O’Connell, aimed as an insult *at* Wellington.

O'Connell said it first. I take it Kitchener quoted him.
