It’s frustrating because so often women are chastised for going public with accusations of misconduct without trying to “clear the air” first with our abusers when that intermediary step almost NEVER results in sincere remorse or improved behavior going forward

i've seen that even at a much smaller scale, seen the emails between survivor and perpetrator where she asks for very small concessions and a commitment to change and he proceeds to dress his gaslighting up in progressive language and nothing fucking changes.

My memory might be foggy but I remember Lowery’s name being on a list of Bad Dudes in Media that circulated online at the height of MeToo (complimentary). So this isn’t new.

(Couple other guys who are still considered Good by liberals were on that list too)

My thought is one people who fuck up and really want to change and regret it 1: don’t go nearly as far as lowery did. And actually change if only because they feel terrible and at the realization they hurt someone else
