A record increase in atmospheric CO2 according to data released by NOAA gml.noaa.gov/ccgg/trends/..., much higher than projected in the Global Carbon Budget essd.copernicus.org/articles/17/....

This occurred in the presence of an El Niño (red bars, data also from NOAA!).

China is building (ahem) abundant clean energy at lightening speed, but its emissions aren't dropping (yet) because they are still using and building fossil-energy. They are doing "all of the above," or "build before breaking." But we've got to break— end fossil fuels — or else we're fucked.

The worst legacy of these abundance folks can be skepticism about abundance at topics where abundance is necessary – dense mixed-use housing, transit, bike lanes etc.

One of the almost incredible things to me about this is that it's so easy to see with publicly available data. You can watch it happening in real time on the Mauna Loa website or Climate Reanalyzer, like a train rolling down the tracks toward you.
