I firmly believe we STILL have to be political on this platform.
BlueSky cannot be a retreat from politics and confrontation.
It is only by passionately and assuredly nailing our colours to the mast, albeit in a civilised and respectful fashion, do we even begin to start to change hearts & minds.

I'm also weary of accounts who immediately jumped on your post. The most political are the ones who try to silence debate.
I still think the other place is better for news... so far.

Fair enough, not every one wants to engage, but I'd like that everyone understood how it affects their lives every. single. day.
You can't help if you're burned out.
The other 10% appreciates random nonsense!
The only bots I've seen so far tend to be of the crypto and catfish type ( even had to block Jennifer Aniston the other day ) 😂
Too simple minded to work out the Bsky works outside to USAverse.
As long as it is done in a respectful way then it can be beneficial
Pointing out other viewpoints is a good start but some need that extra nudge away from some firmly held beliefs. I rarely get into argumeents on line but occasionally I bite.
That's the reason this platform has grown so quickly.
We left the trash behind when we moved here.

Mind you, one of my moots from the early days has blocked me. I suspect because I posted something political as we had only discussed crafts 🤷 Seemed a bit harsh.
The only way to truly change hearts and minds is to put a stop to the unbridled dissemination of fake news via social media. And nobody seems to have the stomach to do that.
In fact, if I wasn't quite secure in what I believe, quite a few people would have made me reconsider it, truth be told.
For other people less informed, those mind-changing moments will be about bigger things.
Trump could hopefully prove this as we watch hopefully.
If you have, then that is clear proof that it happens.
If you haven't, then you might be part of the problem.
Luckily, I've found a few old Twitter buddies, but it's mostly US based, which albeit interesting, isn't all I want to see!

Reece Dinsdale 💙💜🧡👏👏👏👏
Farage, the Brexit debacle and the post truth Tory party opened the floodgates for hate thy neighbour and total disrespect. X became the extremist home.
So yes, let's debate with civility .
With some fun on the way
Brexit broke Britain and we need to #RejoinEU
Democracy is being bought as a commodity and the price is our health & freedom.
There is no such thing as an honourable billionaire
A dogmatic adherence to civility is also not something that is universally effective, or warranted.
But it is also telling people that they're using a niche microblogging site "wrong" and should do it the way you do.
So, is that actually "respectful"? Are you successfully changing hearts and minds?
In times of crisis, doing nowt is, effectively, compliance (borrowed quote, apart from the nowt bit).
However, on Bluesky, blocking anyone who doesn't fully align with their views.
It's reached a point where there's even talk of blocking individuals who are considered too far left or who voice criticism of the Democratic Party.

"I believe we should post about cats"
Ok…
I had dinner with a conservative leaning friend recently. I was stunned when he replayed the narrative that there's no money for services due to tax minimisation by major corporations.
Something I'd shared with him two years ago!
Dialogue works. Keep it up Blue Sky.
