Same grievance w/all AI companies, that they're not currently off grid w/their own sustainable sources of energy & water. Some are beginning the process of shifting to small nuclear reactors for energy but AFAIK none are focused on sustainable water access (such as harvesting it from the air).
It’s not reaching its fullest potential because it wants to be for profit. They pick the laziest means to train its LM. They don’t want to pay or God forbid profit share with users for using their data. And it excessively uses resources.
It feels like the unspoken solution none of these guys want to entertain. Everything they do is either sneakily stealing data or trying to find ways to access platforms that already exist.
Giving users autonomy over what these platforms can use makes the most sense.
AI overall is a wasteful approach to sell us a service(s) based on the theft of our own thoughts and works, with little care for the resulting impact to our quality of life and even less for the environment. It needs to be well regulated to protect the public interest.
