A respiratory admission for an older person is unlikely to be less than 4 days. The illness itself needs to subside (antibiotics etc) and social needs plus delirium risk etc. Once you are admitted the illness needs to materially improve before discharge eg come off oxygen etc.

We need to vaccinate the nation. The current situation will encourage variants to emerge. This is especially concerning within the clinically vulnerable as their weakened immune systems mean that the virus takes hold for significantly longer than in the healthier population.

It makes me think of that recent research out of Spain, men who had to be hospitalized for COVID. One year later, so, admittedly, they lived, 55% of them had erectile dysfunction.

If someone's condition is serious enough to need hospital treatment then they're going to stay in for a while. I don't see why that would change for covid (short of amazing new treatments). Presumably graphs of other conditions are similar.
