Agree we regard gvmt perma-crisis as normal now, and can’t quite adjust to one that’s going to survive to 2029. Disagree that FT is only non-left media covering Labour policy, though. I think The Economist has covered key policies pretty well.

It felt like the Johnson government would be an obvious opportunity to reset after the crisis coverage of the prior decade but the combination of instability in Tory personnel and the total lack of actual policy scuppered that prospect

I think (and my hope is this will also be true by mid-2025) that if you think about, e.g. the way that the TCA was covered in a 'will it pass?' (of course, the government has a majority of 80) that there is always a weird bit of covering the last war and we're still living through it.

My hope is by spring there will be a proper discussion about the two quite different visions for schools in England, by June everyone will have lived through 'a bad set of local elections after which the government doesn't collapse', etc. etc.
