I normally think that genuine apologies should be accepted. However, this doesn't feel genuine and I don't get any sense that he understands how he was offensive.

Incidentally, I think that genuine apologies are undervalued and can be helpful. IMO they should be given quickly & freely, without caveat/condition, and owning that actions/words for which you are apologising.

This 'apology' met none of those criteria.
Not immediate - only when his PR lot told him what an arse he was being.
Full of caveats.
And no mention of what he's sorry for.
