adding a health bar to monhun is not even remotely similar to "giving dark souls an easy mode" it's straight up altering a fundamental design choice upon which the entire rest of the game was built upon

monster hunter has *never* had a health bar. not frontier, the original mmo spinoff of the PS2 games, and not even online, the china exclusive mmo entry developed by an entirely different company, which controversially was the first game in the series to even have damage numbers

monster hunter does not have a health bar because that's part of the series' entire design philosophy. monhun is about mastery. it's about fighting the same enemy over and over until you know it as well as you know yourself.

monster hunter does not have a health bar because you don't *need* a health bar. once you've learned enough, you will *know*.

i haven't even played the games as much as many others have, but there's still been plenty of times where i was able to confidently determine how much more health a monster had, and intentionally go for something risky but cool for the finishing blow
