which one is better: apple music or spotify?
considering quitting spotify bc of their shitty business practices and might switch to apple music instead. curious about which service people prefer!

I used to run into Spotify not having a song I wanted far more regularly than one would want from a service like that and my tastes aren’t *that* niche
But Spotify still has more than other services.
Apple Music also has a LOT more songs, but you might find it’s missing some stuff Spotify has with newer or smaller artists.
But it only matters if you have an audio solution that benefits from it
but to answer your question.
ehh spotify.
If you buy music from apple, you are most likely getting 256kbps is what i found out.
and Apple doesnt like releases that have all capitol letters in them, so you usually have to approve distro changes to change that.
.. also they both suck, so.
Google music, if you don't like Spotify, but for me, I never buy Apple anything.
Bandcamp and YouTube music (free)
They'll never see a goddamn cent from me
YouTube Music is pretty great though. Bands make all that watch time now :3
You can skip as many songs as you like, and you can even download songs to your phone to use off of wifi
I get YouTube through my sister's family subscription.
Both also have low entry bars that easily get you amateur work if you want it.
So glad I left Spotify, and been on YTM for easily over a year at least now.
Lately my YouTube app is crashing constantly so I stopped using it
Unless something has changed, CEO Ek funds warfare through music:

Hope you find an alternative app that works for you!
Each and every company forming the "big tech" has these practices :/

Indie artists don't make money on either platform.
I used it for years, but it seems like their awful practices are causing several artists to depart from it (based on how many songs are going "poof" in my playlists). :T
been using YT Music and it's marginally better; I've been looking into switching to Tidal, though. better library and it's the least shitty to artists
i’m also on a family plan, so it’s to expensive to go out on my own otherwise

I can't tell you how many people complain to me that a new song they like isn't on Spotify.
If you want to stick to streaming: Tidal > Apple Music > Spotify for audio quality and $ to artists.
Caveat: iTunes suuuucks on PC, but if you're on a mac it's fine.
Great sound quality and the element of discovery feels a lot better.
If you are most concerned with supporting the artist, buy their music - don't use a streaming service. But if you must, Tidal #1, Apple #2/3
Been using it since 2015 and not been disappointed. Love the radio.
App is really well integrated, and you can just listen to random YouTube videos (great when your music taste consists of obscure miku covers that will never be on other streaming services)
I haven’t used Spotify in years, though, so I can’t compare it in good faith.
(Tho, even if the practices to the artists are wayyyyyy better, since the company has been bought by Epic, then resold, for employees tho, hasn't been exactly great)
But sincerely, Bandcamp.
I personally use Youtube Premium. It's more $$ than others, but because I also watch a lot of youtube, it was the practical choice.
It has its own warts, but doesn’t treat artists as badly, allows third party clients unlike Spotify (see Cider as an example), and its product managers aren’t constantly changing its UI design for no reason. Offers lossless without an additional fee too.
#Music Artist compensation is my prime motivation for any online music portal.
I personally lean more towards Apple Music though.
I did not like the Apple Music library for streaming.
I use Spotify. Have done for 16 years, at a guess.
