Gout Gout reminds me of Carl Lewis. A classic 200M runner. He's certainly got the potential to be a 19.6 200M runner and maybe 9.8 for the 100M. A lot of hard work ahead of him, though. And he needs to be free of too many injuries.

Me too. Being a former runner, I have watched it many times. By all accounts, Gout Gout is a lovely kid and has the right approach to go far. If I was his coach, I'd just say, enjoy the process. It's running. That's all it is. Just run and see how you go.

I am not sure anyone will ever reproduce Bolt's amazing career. The aussie teen won't even approach anything like that. I think if he wins a world or Olympic medal just once, that will be a great achievement.

Can’t help but think Jamaica would have been a better fit. Everything that Bolt has gone through: huge expectations and meeting them, injuries specific to his frame and build, being great but not alienating a global audience, dominating for multiple Olympics - been there done that.

That's it. We had an aussie that came to athletics late, in his mid to late teens and he ran 9.93 in Japan, our aussie record. Just the loveliest human in all manner of speaking but he didn't have the mental aptitude to compete well overseas or in big events. He was a gentle, country lad.
