Because China's overall demand for EVs is roughly 10-times larger than in the US! China's auto market is 2x the US and ~50% of total sales are plug-in vehicles, so about same as the ENTIRE US auto market. Meanwhile, we're at 10% PEV share. Also, Tesla's China market share there is steadily dwindling

This. Westerners - even those who work in the automotive sector - have a hard time fathoming just how colossal the Chinese EV market is. When you begin to apprehend that scale, the inevitability of the transition becomes clear.

Or how big the China auto market is in general. World's largest market; China production is ~40% of the global total; it's the world's largest exporter, world's biggest EV market, etc

And Tesla had a historic advantage. But now that BYD produces cars of the same quality, but cheaper, I don't think the Chinese will keep buying Teslas in the coming years

BYD definitely does not produce cars of the same quality as Tesla.

Tesla has become a low quality provider of junk. BYD is high quality by comparison.

A €10,000 Chinese EV can now do 1000km on a single charge, and the charge isn’t measured in hours anymore - but in minutes.

Meanwhile the best EU and US models of inefficient low quality provide half the range at 5x the cost and at a minuscule scale of production.
