If you practice mild rapid breathing, while adding meditation into it, you calm your brain because you added mindfulness and oxygen to stress.

1) Box breathing if anxious before anticipated stressful situations.

Before that, incredible lung capacity. I used about a quarter of my tidal capacity at sea level back then, and I could sprint 9,000' above it when my family hiked in the mountains once.
Also very good for vocal protection. I'm a trained singer.
