Anyway if you go to work at KFC, the company will cover 100% of your tuition costs for an online degree at Western Governors University while the Army is cutting education benefits, so just keep that in mind when you're talking to a recruiter.

Their ownership has always been awful in some pretty important ways, but at least they've been consistent about always paying well and providing way better benefits than their competitors.
I cannot believe how incompetent 70% of "software engineers" are at written communications.
Subject-verb-object sentence structure and grammatical syntax are horribly mangled, wasting other people's time in ways the "software engineer" would bitterly resent, were it done to them.
May I recommend: practicing writing up one explanation of a technical thing for the other engineers, then the entirely different explanation of the same thing for the customer support team, then one for the users, and another for departmental leadership.
Got my first job (many years ago) at a tech company with minimal tech experience (I was a political science major/history minor). They said they tend to hire people who can communicate well, it's easier to teach the tech stuff.
My dad had a similar take for hiring nondestructive testing analysts to simulate nuclear reactor shielding. He interviewed a lot of undergrads & MS candidates & favored ones from small liberal arts schools over ones from engineering schools.
I use the 'liberal arts' parts of my Geography degree more than the software parts these days, since the software I learned on is now obsolete and I taught myself new stuff.
My hometown heroes Dicks Burgers will pay you $21/hr and give you $28k for college. AND they put strong plexi glass between you and and the drunks buying burgers from you.
Ok so. They’re imperfect. They fought pretty hard against the $15 min wage in Seattle. Which is a weird and dark stain on their record. Especially cuz they’re cozy w Mixy and Macklemore who had supported that.
But they still live true to at least seeming to be the best employers they can be. So 🤷🏼
WGU is legit too. Loved it for my Masters where I could take courses at my own pace, both fast and slow. Especially good when pandemic hit and had a lot more free time to finish it quickly.
