Pete Hegseth thinks that disabled veterans shouldn't apply for all of the benefits that they qualify for if injured in the line of service.

This nominee should withdraw his name he’s simply unfit for this appointment as one needs integrity, honesty and to act in all veteran’s best interest. He needs to act ethically/legally and in strict adherence w/public standards of morality… that seems like too much to swallow for this guy.

A not small number of vets feel this way. Then ten, twenty years go by after they get out and what once were small injuries get worse and it's a lot harder to prove to the VA that they're service connected

My husband is a disabled combat veteran. Most of the "injuries" are invisible ones, and many are progressive. PTSD, TBI, burn pit exposure, and cancer don't show up immediately - or the veteran can mask or compensate for a while.

This is EXACTLY right. For me it was only two years. If they want to tweak the percentages, fine, but it should all be documented. The day will come when shoulders, vertebrae, or knees will surrender to age and every jump, crash, or boom will come roaring back with a vengeance.

He’s mad because he’s jealous. He feels like a tiny little fraud because he didn’t qualify for disability. His envy is driving him to take away funding so everyone feels as bad as him.

which is like....literally the least the government can do for putting you through a meat grinder? some people come through less ground up than others but that's hardly the point. you signed and put your life on the line, you get the benefits
