The whole point of getting conservative evangelicals to care about abortion (which they did not, until the 70s) was because fighting integration was becoming an unpopular battle. So they had to pivot

This is not to say attacks on abortion, trans rights etc are “distractions.” They are key issues for enforcing the ideal social order for Christian extremists

But once they are successful in rolling back rights in those areas, it is incredibly naive to think they would ever stop there. Christian nationalists are pro-segregation! That is their goal!

Following them on the issue itself is never going to work, because they will keep going backwards while you hope to siphon some of their votes by parroting their position. Meanwhile, everyone sees you stand for nothing
