I suspect most folks think McConnell was an effective opponent for Obama/Biden...but it sure as hell wasn't because of his public speaking skills. Same with Pelosi, who was replacement-level at best as an out-party communicator.

If they say or do anything that's pro-Trump (ahem, Gov. Murphy), have at them. But if it's just mealy-mouthed ineffective platitudes? Ignore it, and amplify the folks who are good at this - and then we *will* hear more from them and less from the lame messagers.
It's not the comms skills, it's the lack of any discernible plan or action. "Make Obama a 1-term president" was a simple plan folks could get behind and it was followed by a flood supporting actions.
I don't disagree at all, but maneuvering in the House & Senate requires being an operator & institutional knowledge that is far more important in that capacity than public speaking - I wish more ppl understood that we need BOTH...the operators in leadership roles & the communicators on TV to amplify
I do think that as long as Pelosi is in Congress it's bad optics for Dems. I think we're really underrating the impact of "Pelosi stock trading app" ads that are everywhere.
In fact, I've long thought that if Dems adopted a term-limits for chairmanships like the GOP it'd be very healthy.
