Right? What idiot with 5 mil would want to live in a crumbling cesspool of a once-great nation? I’d pick the hills of Ireland, or New Zealand, maybe south France.
I also have thought of Scotland. I’ve got Irish ancestors, but I love chilly and grey - and I hear Scotlands even more than Ireland! Pricey to retire there?
Scotland is less expensive than Ireland. It depends whereabouts in the country you decide to live of course. If you like grey and overcast then Scotland is for you. The people and humour are second to none!! 🏴 🏴
Pricey here in Ireland, buying or renting a home in particular. Not sure about Scotland, definitely chillier there anyway but they have the better hills.
Thanks for the headsup! hard not to love Ireland - I still think often about my trip there years ago - but sounds like Scotland is a bit easier to emigrate to.
If you have a grandparent born in Ireland you can apply for what is called "Registration of Foreign Birth." That gets you Irish citizenship. Not sure how that affects residence but you can get an Irish/EU passport.

How about $1.53?
