Reading a romance about a woman doctor in Belle Epoque Paris, fleeing the cops because doing care work for women’s health is illegal, and it’s just hitting a bit hard right now.

Anyway this is the book: A Tropical Rebel Gets the Duke by Adriana Herrera and I’m really into how lonely the heroine is and how much the hero is already so far gone for her. So many pangs of angst!
Same, but the book I'm reading is set in 1640s England and she's being accused of witchcraft because she's a midwife. (Tidelands by Philappa Gregory) I'm sensing a theme...
Ooh, if you like that, can I recommend "Lady of the Ravens" by Joanna Hickson (I think it's a trilogy). She's a healer who, yes you guessed it, is accused of witchcraft.
Honestly I always enjoy what you share here on Bluesky, but we're not friends yet. I have tried send you a friend request please message me when you can ❤️❤️
Makes me think of all the people in the present day that are getting fined and arrested for feeding the homeless. I hate how this isn't just a romance novel thing of the past and a present day "caring for those who help is illegal" thing.
