As a writer, how do I talk to a comic artist about making a comic book together?
How do you pitch comics?
Do you need to partner with someone and then go to a publisher? Publisher first and then find someone?
Can I partner with someone, try to fund some pages myself, and THEN go to a publisher?

I'm just tired of having to rely on massive studios to get stories out.
Just let's connect over dm and talk about this?!
Reach out to me over dm for the comic pages. So I can make some cool pages for you under your budget ^^
Can we discuss about this further via DM.
It's not necessary to go to a publisher first. The artist’s involvement early on can help ensure the comic reflects your vision accurately
Contact them. It isn't pitching. It's a potential paid gig for them
Talk about goals. If not interested, they'll pass
Don't expect to make money. Comics rarely make much. It's about your passion for the project.
I wrote a script
My buddy had made comics before and knew an artist
He also knew someone at IDW
I edited the script down to comic format (which is very different!)
We worked with the artist to make Issue 1 (of 4)
We pitched it (via PDF, not printed) to IDW
-cont-
We made the other 3 issues
Gave it all to IDW
They published them
They sold well enough that IDW made a graphic novel of it (at their expense)
Our prod cost: around $14K (15 years ago)
Profit: We broke even
I'm proud of it. ♥️ That's enough for me
Note: the range artists charge can be wildly different, so plan accordingly
If your story is already written, you'll distill it down to its most basic essence
Then give the full script to the artist, and the distilled version (below), and then the emails/zooms begin
