Buuuuuuuut, I get so much enjoyment from some of these massive gaming productions in terms of both gameplay and artistic craftsmanship that is hard to complain tbh 😅
They were expensive in the 90s because it was new technology with a small pool of talent to pull from. We now have global supply chains to make everything as cheap as possible especially now when you don't have to manufacture or ship anything.
hot take: games probably should've increased prices a long time ago. game price stagnation created microtransactions, free to play, live service, and gacha games. Nintendo games are none of those, so this isn't really surprising
of course it's greed. Corporations get their pound of flesh regardless. But I'd rather have a traditional Mario Kart that costs more than a F2P Mario Kart where courses are paid DLC, costumes are in the cash shop, and characters are a part of a season pass
The micro SD express cards costs more to make. The tariffs probably aren’t helping either. Development costs have risen as well. So that would explain the price increase
yup gonna be priced out of buying as many games as i want. Hell i may have to just find a cheaper hobby life long gamer but the games as amazing as they can be are not worth it for that i gotta eat and pay bills first before and our leaders making it harder to provide the first two let alone this
That's completely understandable, but I'll say if you don't want to give up the hobby completely, I've started making gaming cheaper by buying indie and waiting 1 to 2 years for AAA games to be 50% off minimum. It has helped my wallet a ton.
Ya im pretty much already doing this. I guess I mean ill pry always play games just a lot less often and have to be picky and wait for those deals like your saying.

You don’t even know the actual cost to developers to make the games.
You don’t know their profit margins. There is tons of data they will never give you.
Based on history of these companies it’s most likely greed
But Mario Kart 8 comes with 40+ courses and Nintendo then sold a DLC for like $25 in the U.S. for an additional 40+ courses.
So what do you mean you don’t pay for DLC? Nintendo is selling DLC as well as full price game
The horrors!
I’m not paying that for a video game.
Play F2P MP & MMO’s
Buy little to no MTX
No company can price gouge for non essential products if you just use your 🧠
Nothing essential about gaming whatsoever so spend 💰 in gaming with that mindset
It’s that simple.
With the notable exception of Nintendo, there is nearly zero excuse for not playing games because of "increases" on retail prices.
In real dollars, games have never been more affordable, especially if you wait for sales or get the free ones, like from epic games store.
