Curious to hear any thoughts you have on the Very Short Intro for an undergrad class. Have just two weeks at the end of a course on European politics to give a teaser on the EU and have thought about that as a mini-textbook for that section.

The EU is a crucial political context for my course, which mainly focuses on European party politics. The VSI is perfect to provide such a context, particularly for students who know little about the EU.

Wanna recommend what you consider to be the best? I’m somewhat versed (MA in History) but when I read about Germany and Israel, the case for multi-party doesn’t register positively for me. Obviously I cannot recommend the U.S. system these days. 😱

I don't really know... dissatisfied people in two-party systems often think a multi-party system will solve their (perceived) problems, and dissatisfied people in multi-party systems often think a two-party system will solve their (perceived) problems. 🤷‍♂️

Like many colleagues, I am of the opinion that political constitutions do not create specific outcomes but at best facilitate them... the create different incentives, but can lead to similar outcomes.

Yep, that makes sense. Bottom line, the success of any democratic system depends on how well informed and ‘concerned’ the citizenry is. To my perceptions the European citizens are more informed than in the US. But I don’t live there and that’s the only way to make that determination.
