Yes! Just for now, wait until after the current term. Allow people to borrow them and read them(as long as you know they won't be destroyed), but unfortunately donating them right now could end up with them being put into censored sections or removed entirely

Our library supports all ages in the community. My neighbour takes her baby to a singing group, my primary children visit, the local teenagers use the computers, the old guy across the road reads the papers. There is a local history group, a family history group, a board game group. Let alone #books

My librarian daughter leads one of the “baby time” groups at our local branch and loves it. She just got a beautiful card from one of the parents thanking her for being the baby’s “first teacher”!

This reminds me of a great book I read last year, 'The Library Book' by Susan Orlean. It's about the fire that ravaged the downtown branch of the Los Angeles Public Library in 1986, interwoven with the history of libraries and how vital they are for humanity and society.

Yeah well the library system from what I have seen in BC has gone way downhill the last 5 years. Homosexual staff telling strangers about their problems getting laid, staff talking about what crime gang they are with, ppl overdosing in the washroom and fights the usu. gay stuff in the washrooms.

We need more libraries around the world. My town is large and there are only 2 public libraries, and they have very few books. Most of the schools here also have minimal material for students. Sites like the internet archive are essential for countries like mine so we can access more knowledge.

It would - but it would be even greater if governments took their responsibilities as governments seriously, and funded libraries properly! They are legally required to do so in the UK, and I think the cuts & closures we've seen instead are among the most devastating failures of government here.

When I go to my grandma's house she always has new books. I like to go through and read them all, and when I'm done, her and I like to pick out the best ones and donate them to libraries and book stores. I see her once or twice a year so this doesn't happen often, but it's always the best feeling!

Yes! When my daughter was little, I was on a low income, and libraries were our lifeline. We went at least twice a week, and it introduced her - and me - to so many books that we couldn't have afforded otherwise. The closure of libraries is cultural vandalism.

I vividly remember my awe when I first called up stuff in the British Library - awe that this stupendous temple of thought and creativity honoured & preserved the humble and ephemeral as well as the great. But even the smallest library is a sacred space.
