Can verify. In fact I was raised in Texas, and my grandparents lived on the same tiny farm where they raised their 6 (surviving) children. The farm always had about a dozen cats, and they were all “kitty,” or even kittinga which I think is kitty in Czech.

is it your experience via your vast trove of cat photos that there are a surprising number of b&w photos of bare chested men holding cats? that’s my experience. i buy lots of abandoned photos at fleas & such & i recall a surprising number of such photos.
Barn cat followed me around while I was solo caretaking at a remote hunting lodge in the winter up in the Yukon 50 horse and me …and a cat.

In my experience it takes a lot to get a black cat to actually settle down on your lap unless conditioned from youth. They never feel totally comfortable with it. That is to say that if you get one that likes your lap it’s a precious thing.
