Love "fox" news! Had the opportunity to photograph a "black" fox last fall outside Carbondale, Colorado. I had never seen nor heard of one before. It was magical!

There are several fox species on this planet, yesterday I watched an animal TV docu of nocturnal animals on German #ZDF TV, one of the animals was the fennec. Other foxes can be black, red, grey or black.

There used to be (at least) one living in the large field abutting my old property. 20 hectares with a stream running through it, owls, weasels, mink... Now it's 20 hectares of McMansions and not a wild animal in sight. I wonder what became of them all.

I used to work in Carbondale. How come it didn't show up when I was there? Not fair! (Stamps feet like a 2-year-old.)

i saw three melanistic kits (out of the five playing together) on a bike ride one morning in may 2023. cute bunch!! the dark kits really stand out during daylight hours.

thankfully this road is mostly only tourist-driven with scared motorists traveling more slowly than the 20 mph limit. #foxnews

I have seen same/similar once in AL., but assumed it was a coyote. (Common in those woodlands, and foxes observed so far there were smaller size.) Now wondering what wonder I actually got to see.

We have three melanistic squirrels here in SE PA. We only have gray squirrels here, so these little balls of fur are a real treat!! Fun to see their activity and easy to track them!
