We get people from all over the map in the park. The surrounding communities def lean right but not so much the park staff.

It’s a pickle isn’t it? Living in a city/ county that borders a NP, it’s screamingly pro-Trump. But his current “policies” to fire everyone and burn it all down will overwhelmingly affect these communities. I’ll be interested in hearing local stories about how they feel now.

Insist that all people venturing into the park have a personal rescue beacon, otherwise, due to staffing difficulties, they might not be found.
Refer all lost people to the army and airforce instead. I know they help anyway but leave rescues to them.

Word is Yellowstone is OK on volunteers, it's paid staff that are the issue right now.
That doesn't mean you can't dial up your local park and volunteer.

So… I appreciate you all wanting to volunteer. But this just brings it back around to “See? We don’t need park rangers”.

People need to see what these cuts are ACTUALLY doing. And get MAD. This is a service the government provides. Not one that should just be filled in to justify less pay/no job.

If there isn’t enough personnel to effectively run the park on any given day, close the park and post the reason for the closure. Hope you can do that. People need to feel the pain of Trump’s policies.

Yes! And I also worry about the animals and nature being kept safe. Unfortunately, there are people that are destructive. If there aren’t enough staff to supervise, bad things can happen.

Thousands of people will get very upset if they can’t visit their favorite national park or go on that trip-of-a-lifetime and visit as many parks as they can this summer.

Trump has dementia. He’s not the one calling the shots. The people who are are insulated from any fallout since they are not in any official chain of command. The dept secretaries will probably be who takes the fall. Hopefully they’re all smart enough to keep receipts.

The rangers do everything from L.E. work to EMT and medivac. They're highly skilled people that you just can't step in and replace. We really need this thing to turn around.
