It’s absolutely exquisite. When I first saw it IRL, I was struck by all the hoards taking pics of Girl With a Pearl Earring and not noticing this masterpiece on the opposite wall at The Mauritshuis.
You are right, but it also depends on which side you walk into the room from. "View of Delft" is certainly an eye-catcher for visitors. I have witnessed it often enough. In my opinion, it is the most beautiful Vermeer in the Mauritshuis.
On the same level as 'The Milkmaid' in the Rijksmuseum and 'Art of painting' in Vienna. If I have to choose between these three, I think I'll go for "The Milkmaid".
