Haha arguing the US constitution doesnβt cut it here.

βThe long-term vision would be to see New Zealand change. I felt like I had that to offer there. I come with a different mindset. Iβm a man of liberty, of freedom, and itβs my responsibility wherever I go to express that,β
Congratulations. bullet dodged.
All that "taking someone's land sets a dangerous precedent" BS. Whose fucking land do you think that was to start with, my dude?
And all that free speech nonsense - how is this at all a free speech issue?
*someone says/does something you disagree with* FREE SPEECH!
This does at least make it make more sense why he'd pursue this in the courts, if he thinks the courts are subverting *checks notes* the will of the Almighty.
"Judge Dickey said the Zants case against the council was βbuilt on an entirely philosophical basis to which the council could not properly respond, and on which the court could not have possibly decided in their favourβ."
Yet they expect a more favorable outcome in USA courts?
Yup, I wish they took all the idiots there with them tbh. π Not that the good American folks or indigenous people there deserve it.... But at least they'd be at home with the fascism they seem to want.
That's exactly what worries me too. And do people want to start worrying about salmonella and listeria when they eat out because there are no food regs? I don't think people realise that regulations are rules that say what standards we want as a society and are there to take care of us.
We were reminded of this on our last US trip, when the rental car company ripped us off using behaviour that would've been 100% illegal here. We were not prepared for the lack of consumer protection over there. Let the free market decide etc.
We complained to them, and they refunded half of what they overcharged us. And googling around the issue at the time showed that this "scam" was a large part of their business model.
