Though I should clarify. As much as I detest GenAI, sometimes processes long used in game dev get mixed up in the public mindset due to unclear terminology, raising unnecessary alarm bells.

Yes. In that I would stop altogether. AI screws real writers, real artists, real people out of their jobs and livelihoods. AI would be a death sentence for the studio, and I'm sure I'm not alone in this reasoning.

no chance in HELL would i buy a game with genAI. i loved bioware games bc of their deeply HUMAN stories, their realistic, deep characters. if EA can't be fckin bothered to employ ppl who's lifeblood is telling stories, then why would i spend the money/time? i'd rather support those writers.

Of course. People are given millions to make MOVIES (something people only have to view) and can't make good ones pretty often. Most big games already feel very formulaic to begin with. Just seems like they're trying to save money while utilizing tech to just.. stay in the same exact spot.

I guess I wouldn't mind too much if it was for minor roles (although I don't know why that would make sense) but for big story parts or characters there's no way a computer can convey human emotions with such intricacies and nuances that are needed to resonate with the audience

Yes, and as a side note that would also make me incredibly sad. As someone who only discovered BioWare when Mass Effect Legendary came out, I was excited to get to be a part of the launch cycle for future games. But if they use AI, that’s a hard no.

It would be extremely difficult to support. I'm guessing if it did happen, it would be because EA pushed it upon them and it would be difficult for them to resist, especially now that they're vulnerable...vulnerable in large part due to EA's multi-player demand on DA4.

For writing? Yes. I would not purchase the game. Pay your damned writers. I get using AI to help in like, boss fight pathfinding for enemies, that's a thing we've kind of already had for a while - pathfinding AI. But writing? Voice acting? Pay humans to do it.

Yes. I wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole. One of the reasons I love BioWare games is because of the writing. AI cannot replicate the heart and soul that goes into good writing, so to me, it wouldn't be a BioWare game. Also, generative AI is theft and horrible for the environment.
