The election of Trump was a king hit, so difficult to tell how a groggy public can react. There was no mandate however, as the margin of victory was so small (despite the difference in the electoral college vote totals), and others have questioned the validity of votes, especially in Pennsylvania

Good question! Maybe they were too punch drunk or wanted to show that they were different to the other side. I am amazed that they're not pulling out all stops. Even Buttigieg is restrained in his announcements, almost "too reasonable" or conciliatory. Bernie Sanders is not angry enough!

Middle powers such as Canada and Mexico may be able to show the way with their recent stands/skirmishes, providing articulate and strong leaders with moral backbones. Australia unfortunately was wedged with AUKUS (Morrison's awful legacy) and locked into a cycle of obsequiousness
