We are aware the Charity Commission is pushing back vigorously on the idea that funding for environmental litigation is "charitable". But it seems supremely relaxed about funding for anti-trans or anti-abortion cases. I guess that's because it's not really a regulator at all.

Worth noting also: the Christian Right ADF, which is pursuing anti abortion legal cases in the UK with funding from the US, is also a charity meaning its activities are subsidised by your taxes. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/f...

I guess they exists as acts of parliament, but who are they accountable to that somehow links back to the citizenry?
From OFCOM to OFWAT and now the Charity Commission, they all seem to be pro-terrible things.
