Terribly convenient, isn't it, for a generation in power which has ruthlessly screwed young people - house prices, tuition fees and grants, environmental breakdown, hostility to their speech and identity - to blame smart phones for their poor mental health.

This has trapped children in their homes.
The health impacts are astronomical, as per the opening paras of this study on ‘motonormativity’:
Like all the big ones.
They need to be ruthlessly desperate for the people’s business again.
Not complicit in the government’s atrocities for profit.

Richard (aged 68 and a Quarter).
Watch with mother haz a lot to answer for.
They gained all of the benefits of a prosperous country and decided that no one else could share it with them.
Smart phones are a huge part of this crisis
“To be sanguine about Big Tech is to self-identity as a moron. I don't. But it's just oh so convenient to blame some Big Bad Other rather than examine your own culpability.”
It also coincides with a pandemic and climate change and right wing austerity politics.
It is deeply irresponsible to imply that austerity and landlordism hasn't fucked the young.
And what evidence do you have for the majority cause not being smart phones? I’m not saying it’s not I’m asking what evidence
And if your to ask where my evidence is, it’s here (see the captions on the graphs):

It's not phones, brains
So generally speaking, we're in a very deep hole. Same applies to the west overall. There's just no focus on what the real problems are. It's driven by corruption and greed.
If you see Vegas, you'll see an "addiction" clinic on every street corner. Addiction to phones, butt lifts, pain clinic scammers, food addiction scammers, you name it, medical doctors will prostitute themselves for it.
So bloody selfish !
And a lot of the 60's was created by Silent Gen - many Boomers were still QUITE young.
The Boomers were running the 70's & 80's - some of them showed up for the 60's, but they didn't create it.
Pretty much everyone had a home phone & would answer it, so good random samples could be achieved.
(& That was before the bots! 😭)
ya know when i get angry and made i go play one
and blow up stuff
then feel better
wow no real humans hurt right
now ya see why they want all this gone
so we have no way to vent peacefully
It took 20 years before I could read The Chrysalids again.
I'm an author now, and honestly when I want to put a subtext in a story, I make it so pointed the reader impales themselves on it.
It's been stagnant my entire GenX life.
Boomers and the few conformist GenX who sold their souls refuse to let go of power to the detriment of every other generation.
Why are you trying to scapegoat a whole generation for the bad things that government and tech bros are doing?
You need to step away from your phone

Leisure Suit Larry might have been exciting sure, but it took ten minutes to start the computer and get it running. still you were mostly reading.
That's a factless comment.
I know a lot of teenagers within affluent families who have mental health issues and are phone dependent

Humans (mostly men) are the problem.
We have white male bias in LLMs and an avaricious neo-liberal default worldwide
whether we want to or not.

Along those 30 years, continue the subsidies Our Parents had, but were stopped, diminished, or remained static compared to Inflation.

Yeah, really odd. As a very early millennial, I have a healthy relationship with social media.
Blue-sky... nothing else
Moved to a small Ayrshire village and it was like the Warriors, so much more violence.
I didn’t say there was no violence. When I was in the CID in Saracen (Maryhill division) we’d a murder about every weekend.
‘Twas adults mainly not the youths that I had dealings with. Apart from the wee housebreakers (11/12 yo) on occasion.

The Tories fucked the future for young people in the UK but phone use in classes is detrimental I believe
Young people in America are completely self-absorbed and unreliable.
As the feral GenX we saw it all.
