the discourse on whether the economy is actually good or bad is ridiculous to me bc even if you showed me a graph that somehow conclusively proved the economy was Good i could still walk through my city and see people living in tents on the side of the road and in every public park

The economy can be good but the wealth distribution atrocious — of course they're not going to tell you the truth, that MORE people are poor and the already existing poor class is even poorer.
The way liberal people I know in Cali get very cold about the homeless is genuinely chilling.
Since most of them are too busy trying to survive, and no employer wants to talk to them anyway, they're literally just not factored into the unemployment rate.
But that's not within the realms of this subject, so let's just focus on this specific scenario anyway.
Politics is fun like that. Making numbers dance to make a more compelling argument.
I feel shame every time
Think about it. Why do people choose to flee a country? Because they're terrified they are going to die, and believe they have no option but to run. Or, they feel trapped and isolated, and have no one else to turn to, or go.
Not exactly bloody hard, is it?
Reading is your strong suit, isn't it?
No. Because otherwise they wouldn't be on the fucking street, now would they?
If you can't be bothered to understand basic concepts, don't ask the question in the first place, clown.
What I'm trying to say is that people who escape abuse and end up on the street are still there for economic reasons. Often their abuser had control over their finances. Money and abuse are very deeply tied together.
Pay attention to what range of dates they use. Especially if it's around a holiday, or major event....
It's if and how much money people with incomes 100x yours are making.
