Once read a novel (can't remember the author) in which Jack the Ripper was finally revealed to be Sherlock Holmes. A stroke of genius and a clever weave of fact and fiction.

That was The Last Sherlock Holmes Story, by Michael Dibdin. On the other hand, Matrix by Robert Perry & Mike Tucker, has him turn out to be a dark, deranged alter ego of Doctor Who! [One of them must be wrong! 😉]

Just watched all of them on iPlayer, superb! The way you dispel tired tropes is brilliant. The example I found most moving was the way women were classified as prostitutes in Victorian England (e.g. living with a man out of wedlock) so refreshing to see thorough, original research. More please!
