For what it’s worth, I was a long time Sound Devices 744T user and ended up getting a Zoom F8n Pro and love it. I have worked on many films with and found that it functioned flawlessly

Yeah I've been hearing about F8 Pro's and how they're basically the same thing as the MixPre's but I'd really need to try it for myself as I've only had a bit "..." experiences with Zooms in the past but recently heard good about them :) gotta scout locally to see if I can borrow/test one!

Ive got the MixPre3-II and from what i hear its pretty much identical to the 6. Ive got no complaints at all, the only issue i had was finding the right usb power bank which i found confusing. Havent had any problems with the XLRs personally.

Ah right yeah, I'll be getting the mount for external bigger batteries for it I think, although, hmmm, yeah if it works with USB powerbanks that's actually not a bad idea either :D gotta look up on it!

Yeah for sure, its always good to have backup power! Thankfully there are a good few tutorials/guides on youtube for setting them up and all the power and storage options are :)

I have a MixPre 6ii and it’s good. For sure. But I gotta stay, even with it, I’m never selling my 700 series recorders. IMO the preamps are better, less buggy, more rugged, and those limiters are delicious.

Yeah, sadly my 744T is starting to break/act-up and in general starting to be a bit old and clunky and feel like it's time to update to something with modern connection options 😅 but yeah the preamps are something that worry me slightly with the MixPre's as I'm a semi-snob with that stuff :D

I made the move from a 722 to a MixPre 10T when they came out. I wouldn’t even dream of going back. The only real issues to sort are power related. Get a good Hirose power bank connector/ battery. Also MixPre won’t charge battery when plugged into mains (weird). Apart from that it’s almost perfect.

Oh that's relieving to hear :) although a lot related to power is not so relieving to hear or sounds somewhat messy coming from a "just plug a battery in it" background hah! Very weird they don't charge when plugged in, that's such a handy feature with the 700-series, hmm

Yeah MixPre 6 is a solid recorder. I haven't any issues with the XLRs being stuck, they can just be a bit finicky to get pull out when in my K-tek bag. Also MixPre mk2s seem to be the only 32 bit recorders that don't have ultrasonic issues

Ah gotcha! Yeah they're a bit finicky with the 744 aswell inside the bag so if it's like that, it's a total non-issue for me 😅

Does it have a internal hard drive or is it SD card only :o ? (I could google this sure...😅)

Have you tried it as a computer audio interface?

Any minuses :o ?

Only used as an interface a few times - worked just fine.
It can also record to a USB flash drive.
Minuses, cannot think of anything, but this is my first recorder that isn't a handheld so don't have anything to compare it with
