It would cost MSNBC even more if Maddow publicly quit on air in solidarity. People would follow her to any platform she went too. But like a good democrat she just sent a strongly worded letter while keeping her huge salary.
It would have cost MSNBC, sure. But it would be one less liberal voice- and there's no where she could go that would get as much exposure/audience. understand why people would like her to quit, but then you're just letting Fox take over the field.
Maddow calling them out from her secure position at her desk is a GOOD thing. Someone needs to keep calling out the BULLSHIT, telling the truth (what a concept), exposing the lies, deceit and fraud! @maddow.msnbc.com ….keep doing you! At least one reporter has integrity, grit and strength!
She still called them on it, to the entire nation. She did not have to. As a member of the LGBTQ community her seat isn't as secure as one might believe. Under this administration? They won't stop until it's 100% white Christian nationalists everywhere.
I’m glad she called them out but it would carry more weight if she had walked out when they did. Her position isn’t all that secure because she isn’t a white straight man and why continue to put money in the hands of MSNBC when she could grab a platform anywhere and people would listen.
As much as her leaving will cause waves we need her and Lawrence to be our truth tellers. Lawrence also spent sometime speaking about Joy Reid on his show
One important thing that both Joy and Rachel said is that they have huge teams associated with their shows. People with families who are counting on paychecks. Rachel is wealthy and would be fine, but what about the people who depend on her?
Hate to say this … and will probably get a lot of grief for pointing out the obvious > TFG is a media magnet. He also attracts legal eagles on both sides - for the plaintiffs and defendants = those too industries are making bank big time bc of him. But he sucks for general welfare of the nation.
Remember she’s an LGBTQ member. She watched them fire the poc’s and likely she’ll be next. If I had her millions I would have walked out with those folks that were fired. She’s a big money maker for the network and they would feel her loss where it counts.
As she sat at her cushy desk with her gigantic salary. I used to love rachel, was a huge fan. Had her coffee mug, books the whole thing. She lost my respect after the debate when she jumped on the joe bashing band wagon. She’s a good reporter, but her values seemed to have wobbled.

I realize that she's MSNBC's biggest money and I'm glad she called them out but fuck her for not leaving in solidarity.
She got book and podcast money. She'd be fine.
